Hidden Smiles

Butterflies tickle my insides,
As I wait in anticipation of seeing you.

I see you first, across the crowd,
My heart leaps to my throat,
And my arms start to rise to reach you.

I quickly check that motion,
And put on a friendly face,
It would never do to let you know how I feel.

As you catch sight of me,
A wondrous smile sparks in your eyes.

I could easily spend all day looking at you like this,
Lost in your beauty and good nature.

You draw closer and raise your arms,
And I know that everything will be all right,
My arms come up around you to enfold you into my life.

And I realize that I never want to let go
